And in the commencement of the twenty and eighth year, Moroni and Teancum and many of the chief captains held a council of war...

Part of a presentation for my college religion class. Didn't have as much time as I would have liked to design all the characters, but oh, well. The presentation went fine. From left to right: Antipus, Teancum, Helaman, Moroni, Teomner, Lehi, and Gid. I've never drawn so many people in one picture!

This was the music that inspired the way I illustrated the scene. [link] Very ominous. A great and tiring war is ahead.

When I was younger, I never used to 'get' the war chapters in the Book of Mormon, but it's study and pictures like this - things that show the people behind their defense - that have really helped me see a whole new world in the pages of the Book of Mormon.
